Memories and Testimonies

"I've known Ed since 1974. There is no possible way he is a child molestor. He was framed by his second wife, Debbie, to hide her own sins. The church he was attending in Arroyo Grande gave him ZERO support. They buried him (only Christians bury their wounded). Ed is above reproach, having a heart as wide and deep as the Grand Canyon. He is a good day, unfortunetly side tracked by a woman who truly dispised him, used him. Who testified on his behalf at trial? His children. His first wife. His friends wrote letters. Those who know Ed know he is salt of the earth. IF ONLY the prison system would see the obivous -he is no way fits the scenario of a child molester. The law in the County of San Luis Obispo ignored facts and - actually - the law in the way they handled his case." -Posted from comment (6-06-2006)

"I've known Ed since I was born. I'm not his son though, I'm his brother-in-law (my parents had children all through their lives, including late in life). Well, through his first wife (not Debbie). So maybe that's ex-bro in law. Whatever. Anyway, Ed has had a thousand opportunities to be around children, including me. And guess what happened with everyone? Nothin. That's right, nada. Just good ole fashion talk about electronics, airplanes, and various gizmos. No touchin, nothin. This guy is on the straight and narrow. I had heard of Debbie providing nice gifts to people who would testify against him. If the kids were being coached, shouldn't have someone asked them if they were? They would probably fess up. But they weren't. His ridiculous lawyer, Jeffrey Ratting, didn't do his homework at all. He wouldn't ask the questions. In fact, he has in no way consulted anyone (that I know of as being pertinent to the trial) on whether or not they thought Ed was guilty, let alone fact retrieval. The man didn't even get a trial! Mr. Ratting is unfit to practice law in the United States! How did this guy ever pass the bar?!??!?! Now don't get me wrong, I am disgusted by child molesters as any other man is, and they are dangerous and do need to be locked up lest they go out and harm more kids. But just as I am aggrieved by child molesters, so I am also aggrieved by miscarriages of justice. Were it a murder trial, or any other trial, a miscarriage of justice is still a miscarriage of justice. Child molestation is the perfect choice for his adversaries because it is far more tabboo and at the bottom of everyone's psyche that even death itself doesn't look as bad as going through that. The image of the spooky child molester lurking in everyone's minds makes it that much easier to justify erring on the side of a guilty verdict than on the side of an innocent verdict. It's a damned shame, but it wouldn't be the first time the justice system had been wrong. I think the worst of it is, there may have been molestation going on in his household, but not committed by him. The real molester is free....."

"Ed Kie , was one hell of a stand up guy and an amazing father ! I should know I was fortunite enough to be one of his foster children and one that was in HIS home when all this non-sense began. I hate the fact that I didn't testify in court my statements could possibably have made a difference in the case. to eds family and to ed I owe a great apology for not doing what could have saved this innocent man of god!" -- Nicole Breithaupt (7-26-06)
